Absolutely! Spacers may be necessary for some wheels to clear the brakes and/or to produce a more aggressive look by pushing the wheel beyond the lip of the fender.
Our products are designed to be used with only approved adapters such as those provided by Gorilla Automotive Parts. Use of any other adapters will void the product's structural warranty.
There are two basic types of spacers:
PLATE STYLE SPACER
This simple spacer is placed between the wheel and the vehicle hub resulting in pushing the wheel away from the hub. These spacers are available in hub centric and non-hub centric versions and are typically used specifically for brake caliper clearance. The standard thickness options are 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2". For safety reasons, spacers should never be stacked. The use of an ET lug nut may be required to ensure the lug nut engages properly with the amount of stud remaining.
ADAPTER STYLE SPACER
The second common spacer type is thicker and provides a new set of studs for proper lug nut engagement due to the thickness. This type of spacer is typically used to move the wheel closer to (or outside) the fender's edge and is generally done for aesthetics. Rather than being "sandwiched" between the wheel and mounting surface like the other spacer, this spacer is installed on the vehicle. The wheel is then mounted onto the spacer. This adapter also offers options to convert the vehicle's bolt pattern to another wheel application.
It's important to note that spacers may be associated with negative impacts such as increased wear and tear on suspension components and wheel bearings, poorer ride quality, and compromised handling and braking stability.
